STUDENTS RECEIVE EXTRAORDINATRY RESULTS

Mohawk College Advertising and Marketing Communications Management students have achieved extraordinary results in this year’s Applied Arts Student Awards.

Our students submitted five winning pieces.

Chenice Piercy and Cheryl Post Google Sentinel. Chenice Piercy and Danielle DiTomaso Millionaire Sardines. Brian Vitug and Hussein Rumaithi Google our Voice. Jacob Valk, Michael Kalte and Jordan Speare Bus Driver Coffee Stunt. Talia Rousseel and Hussein Rumaithi Nike Feel.

“Entering awards shows is exciting and important as an advertising student,” said third-year student Chenice Piercy. “It is rewarding to receive an award and a reflection of the hard work and creativity we strive to achieve. I am thankful for dedicated teachers who push us to always be better and encourage us to submit our work.”

“Awards are a chance for me to get sense of how the industry is evolving and what direction I should focus on,” said third-year student Cheryl Post. “To even have faculty select my work for a submission paid by the college is an honour. It’s a great way to start my career and encourages me to continue pushing the boundaries of advertising.”

Students in the third-year advertising program specialize in creative or business-focused studies after their rst year. All students receive a foundation in advertising, sales promotion, direct marketing and public relations.

This is not the first time our students have won in international competitions. It’s become a regular occurrence and testament to the program’s focus on helping students produce great work.

Much of that work is produced at The Agency, the experiential learning facility where students collaborate to develop advertising and communications solutions for non-profits and start-up companies.

“Our students learn by doing,” said Advertising Professor Jef Petrossi. “They are prepared to hit the ground running when they graduate because they know how to work with clients, meet deadlines, and collaborate.”
